Business Centre
A business centre providing computer services with Internet connections will be available at the International Congress Center Dresden. Postal, telephone and telefax facilities are also available at all hotels.
Climate and Clothing
The average day-time temperature in Germany in early April is around 16°C. Evenings may be cooler. Occasional rain showers may occur. It is advisable to bring some warm clothes with you.
Cloakroom and Storage
A cloakroom will be available in the registration area at the International Congress Center Dresden.
Disabled Persons
International Congress Center, like most of the hotels, is easily accessible to disabled persons. Participants requiring assistance are asked to kindly inform the Congress Secretariat in advance.
Commercial Exhibition
A large exhibition will take place in the Congress Center from April 8 to April 11, 2010. Exhibitors from all over the world will display and demonstrate their materials and specialized tools. Access is free for registered participants. The exhibition will be open throughout the meeting hours.
Language
The Congress language is English. There will be no simultaneous interpretation.
Letter of Invitation
Upon request, the WCPD 2010 Congress will be pleased to send a letter of invitation in order to enable participants to apply for financial support or visas for attending the Congress. This letter cannot be considered as an offer of financial support by the organizers.
Liability
By registering for the Congress and/or by participating in the exhibition attached to the Congress, participants and exhibitors agree that neither the WCPD 2010, the Organizing Committee nor the Congress Secretariat assumes any responsibility for damage or injury to persons or property during the Congress. Participants and exhibitors are advised to organize their own health, travel and personal insurances.
Public Transport Pass
All participants will receive a free public transportation pass enabling them to use all local transport free of charge during the WCPD 2010 Congress days. The closest busand tram stops are located about 50 meters from the main entrance of the International Congress Center.
Dresden has an excellent public transportation network of busses and trams. The congress venue can be reached by tam or bus from all congress hotels. More information about these options will be provided to participants on registration.
Lunch boxes and Refreshments
Daily light lunches are included in the participants´ registration fee. Lunch boxes will be available in the poster areas around the Exhibition Area. Coffee, tea and other refreshments will also be available in the foyer during the breaks.
Name Badges
Participants and accompanying persons are required to wear the official Congress name badges on all Congress occasions. An additional fee will be charged reissuing lost name badges.
Non-Smoking Policy
The WCPD 2010 congress will be a non-smoking congress. Smoking will be prohibited in the Congress and Exhibition areas.
Parking
The International Congress Center offers large parking facilities for vehicles. See map on page 26 for the location of the International Congress Center and the hotels in relation to the Congress Center.
Registration and Information Desk
Participants can pick up their personal Congress material at the Registration Desk. The Congress Secretariat will be available to assist you during the Congress at International Congress Center. Please do not hesitate to contact the Congress Secretariat for help or advice.
Visa and Passports
EU citizens only need their national identification document. Citizens from most other countries will need a valid travel passport. They are encouraged to contact their local German embassy or consulate to enquire about the necessity of a visa.
Transportation by Air
There are direct flight connections to Dresden from some European capitals as well as excellent intercontinental connections. Please contact your travel agency for flight information.
Dresden International Airport
Dresden International Airport is located about 10 kilometres from Dresden city centre. Onward connection from Dresden to Hamburg, Munich and Frankfurt are also excellent.
Airport Transportation
The rapid Transit number 2 (s-bahn) is connecting the airport to the city centre. Every 30 minutes there will depart a transit and the stops will be the main station, the train station „Dresden-Klotsche“ and „Dresden-Neustadt“, where you can reach busses and trams.
Your printed confirmation will allow you to use the S-Bahn shuttle from the airport to downtown Dresden on the first trip from the airport to the city center. On the following days until the official end of the congress, your name badge will be your ticket for the public transport within the city limits. For more information visit www.dvb.de
Dresden for Visitors
Shopping areas, museums, the historic city centre and other Attractions offer plenty to see for participants as well as fro accompanying persons and families. The Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the beautiful riverside offer opportunities for outdoor activities. Not to forget is a visitation in the world famous “Frauenkirche”, the “Semper Opera House” and the “Zwinger”. For more tourist information on Dresden visit www.dresden-tourismus.de
Travel Assistance
For travel assistance please contact the Congress Secretariat or German Travel Bureau desk at International Congress Center. Depending on your request, suitable contacts will be supplied for additional information and reservation. Flight booking and confirmations can also be made at the travel assistance desk during the Congress.
Tourist Information
A tourist information desk will be available in the registration area in the International Congress Center. The opening hours will be announced in the Final Programme.
Registration for Accompanying Persons
All reservations and payments for accompanying persons should be made in the participants.
